28 September 2011
Californian helpdesk software providers – Zendesk – have chosen Australia as a launch-pad for their growth in the Asia Pacific with a new regional headquarters set to open in Melbourne.
Since developing their cloud-based software in 2007, Zendesk has established a global client base of more than 10,000 companies. Up to 1,200 Zendesk customers are based in Australia and New Zealand alone.
A recent report from the International Data Corporation (IDC) indicates that revenue for cloud computing services in Australia reached A$470.3 million in 2010. With Australian business displaying early-adoption of cloud technology, Zendesk anticipates that the Asia Pacific region will continue to show upward growth in coming years.
According to Frost and Sullivan’s report State of Cloud Computing in Australia: 2011, 43 per cent of Australian companies now use cloud computing in some form while the IDC forecasts that cloud computing uptake will quadruple in Australia with up to 94.2 per cent of companies using cloud software by 2015.
Zendesk Vice President and Asia Pacific Managing Director, Michael Folmer Hansen says: “we see a huge opportunity in the Asia-Pacific region, in Australia and New Zealand in particular, which have a large number of businesses that are keen to adopt cloud technology.”
The launch of Zendesk’s Asia-Pacific Headquarters in Melbourne follows significant international growth for the company in 2010/11 and the opening of a new European office in London earlier this year.
