Rackspace launches multimillion-dollar data centre in Australia
31 August 2012
Global cloud computing company, Rackspace, has announced the launch of its first Australian data centre to meet the growing demand for onshore data storage solutions and cloud computing services.
The new Rackspace data centre, due to open in Sydney in late 2012, builds on the North American company’s three-and-a-half year presence in Australia and concretes its commitment to the local market and to its growing Australian customer base.
The company expects its multi-million dollar investment in dedicated local data and hosting solutions will appeal to Australian government agencies and to a broad range of industry sector clients focussed on growing their business worldwide.
Managing Director of Rackspace, Asia Pacific, Jim Fagan, said delivering local solutions in Australia was one of the company’s key priorities in the region.
“As global expansion increasingly becomes part of many Australian businesses’ immediate growth plans, when choosing Rackspace they know they can grow effortlessly with us, thanks to our global presence.”
Welcoming the announcement last week, New South Wales Deputy Premier and Minister for Trade and Investment, Andrew Stoner, said the new data centre was a positive step for Australia’s ICT sector.
“Rackspace’s investment is another significant vote of confidence in our capacity for innovation and collaboration across the ICT sector,” Mr Stoner said.
