Data Alert: Ease of doing business in Australia remains strong
26 November 2012
Australia remains one of the world’s easiest places to do business according to a recent survey conducted by the World Bank and International Finance Corporation.
Australia was placed second globally, in terms of the number of days needed to start a business. Overall, Australia is ranked 10th in the world for the ease of doing business and fourth in a comparison of economies with a large population.
The report released in late October, which analyses financial and regulatory conditions for Small and Medium-size Enterprises encompassing 185 economies for the June 2011 to June 2012 period, reveals that Australia’s ranking is largely driven by the ease of starting a business, getting credit, and trading across borders, among other factors.
