Sony opens solutions engineering site in Australia
9 January 2013
Japan’s Sony Corporation has opened a solutions engineering site in Newcastle, Australia.
The new facility is designed to handle Sony Australia’s expansion of professional solutions and systems operations around the Asia-Pacific region. The site will also be used for Sony’s expansion into new markets such as healthcare and medical monitoring systems.
Brett Kilby, Group Manager for Solutions Engineering, said that the Newcastle facility increases Sony’s system capabilities.
‘In addition to our core fabrication, design and installation business – and with the support of our facility partners – we are now able to offer vehicle design and build,’ Mr Kilby said.
The new Sony site has system design integration and installation workshops and is being used to develop and fit-out outside broadcast (OB) vans and broadcast studios. It will also offer metal and woodwork fabrication and assembly, as well as computer-aided development, design and manufacture using Vidcad, CNC/XYZ and laser machining.
Founded in Japan in 1946, the Sony Corporation is one of the world’s leading entertainment organisations with interests in consumer electronics, computing, cameras, film, music, video, gaming and telecommunications.
