Data Alert: Australia’s two-way trade exceeds A$625 billion

13 February 2013

Strong ties to the expanding Asia Pacific have fuelled an increase in Australia’s two-way trade with the region.

For the year to June 2012, Australia’s two-way trade totalled A$627 billion, up more than 9 per cent from a year earlier.

Australia recorded a trade surplus for 2011-12 of A$4.8 billion.

Eight of Australia’s 10 largest trading partners are in Asia, reflecting the country’s strategic location and increased participation in the region.
