Data Alert: Australia the most prosperous Asia-Pacific country, global index shows

Australia has ranked the fourth most prosperous economy in the world and the most prosperous in the Asia-Pacific region, according to the 2012 Legatum Prosperity Index.

The Legatum Institute’s 2012 index is the fourth straight year that Australia has ranked in the top five most prosperous nations in the world, a performance underpinned in the latest index by its performance in five of the index’s eight sub-categories, including its sound economic foundations and world-class education system.
