Data Alert: Australia a cloud computing leader for second straight year

8 April 2013

Australia is a world leader in cloud computing policies for a second straight year, according to Business Software Alliance’s world measure of readiness to meet the cloud revolution.

The 2013 BSA Global Cloud Computing Scorecard has ranked Australia second after Japan in an annual report that ranks 24 economies which make up 80 per cent of the global ICT market. The report gauges the countries in each of seven policy categories, which combine for an overall ranking. The categories include data privacy, security, intellectual property rights and IT infrastructure.

Australia scored 10 out of 10 in the standards and harmonisation category, which measures government support for industry efforts to make systems interoperable, or able to recognise and communicate with each other. Australia also earned a perfect score in the category measuring national efforts to combat cybercrime.
