Voiceover>> Professor Göran Roos is a world leader in business model innovation in the field of manufacturing, and the keynote speaker at the 2013 Australia-Germany Innovation Forum.

G. Roos>> Australia’s very innovative and I think there are two reasons for it. One, of course is the tradition, you know, if you live in a harsh environment and you live far away from anybody else, you have to be very, very good at coming up with innovative solutions.

There is something, the culture has been around for a long, long time, Australia’s world class research and innovation offers great opportunities for global investors to collaborate at the cutting edge of their field the mining services industry, one of the more successful growth stories around Australia at the moment and the associated innovative systems at universities.

There are things like the Wark Institute in the University of South Australia that is about surface chemistry and surface physics and nano-particles and has a number of successes in creating new material for industry. You have things like photonics at the University of Adelaide, you have the Waite Centre which is one of the leading agricultural research institutions in the world, again located out there.

You can go through list after list after list with extremely competent research executed at university which is looking for an opportunity to commercialise into global supply chains and coming here with one of those pipelines, that is very easy to fill it.
