Austrade recognises the importance of providing its people with clearly defined education, training and learning pathways, though the provision of developmental opportunities that balance individual and organisational needs.

Within the framework of the Austrade Institute, Austrade maximises its intellectual capital by linking its human and knowledge capital.

The Institute is Austrade's 'corporate university', which is designed to enrich Austrade people, benefit Austrade operations and contribute to Australia's stock of internationally experienced business people.

The Institute is virtual in structure and consists of three key components:

  1. Education and training opportunities open to Austrade people around the network
  2. Research and development framework for leading edge research in key fields of interest to Austrade and the business community
  3. Alumni and academic networks to establish major linkages with former employees, academic, business and professional networks and to capitalise on the wealth of knowledge and experience residing in Austrade
