Bob Carmichael
Companies in Australia and the Pacific are benefiting from the appointment of Bob Carmichael as the Australian Government’s first Pacific Investment Commissioner (PIC).
This new position, a joint initiative of AusAID and Austrade, facilitates new sustainable Australian private sector investment throughout the South Pacific.
The PIC helps Australian companies to identify and progress joint ventures and commercial partnerships in PNG, Fiji, the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Samoa, Tonga, Kiribati, Cook Islands, Tuvalu, Nauru and New Caledonia.
Bob is working from the Austrade Adelaide office and works closely with Exporter Services and TradeStart colleagues throughout Australia in identifying companies with the potential to grow their business by investing in the Pacific, and with our Pacific posts in Auckland, Port Moresby, Suva and Noumea, which provide business matching and in-market support.
Small-to-medium Australian companies are most likely to be interested as their size complements the scale of the investment opportunities in the Pacific and the sectors offering opportunities include tourism and related services, small-scale manufacturing, renewable energy, health, agriculture, aquaculture, seafood processing, timber products and services.
