Austrade is continuing to develop a range of school teaching and learning resources in its 'Exporting for the Future' program. The resources cover topics such as international trade, business enterprise, exporting and marketing, globalisation and the global economy. Case studies and country and industry information are also available using the menu on the left.

School teachers and pre-service teachers have the option to download books in PDF format or order hardcopies from a selection of recent publications. To receive a free hardcopy complete the order form or email education@austrade.gov.au.

Newspaper supplement pages
Austrade produced a series for The Canberra Times, ‘Newspapers in Education’, to aid upper primary and junior secondary classes. Each page contains stimulus material and student activities. The 2004 and 2005 series is now available for upload in PDF format below.

Activity Sheets
Intended for upper primary and junior secondary levels, these activities guide exploration of our global connections including the social, economic and political aspects.

- Global Community (102KB)
Students draw links between their own community and Australia’s global community.
- Global Games (392KB)
Two pages of games to play in class. A board game titled Get connected – become a global citizen, Export celebrity heads and Globalisation category challenge.
- Globalised Me (118KB)
Students colour in a picture of a ‘global citizen’ and answer some short questions before drawing a picture of themselves showing why they are a global citizen.
- International Trade at My House (216KB)
Students investigate their homes to discover imported goods, make a basic bar chart and mark the goods’ country of origin on a world map.
- Overseas Travel (235KB)
Students learn that global travel is increasing and use an atlas to select two countries they wish to visit, before colouring in a pie chart of the reasons people visit Australia and the top destinations for Australians on a world map.
- Product Cycles – Reading Comprehension (177KB)
Students learn about product cycles and apply them to products in their home or school.
- Trade Show! (245KB)
Students investigate Japan, then in groups develop a product to present at an Australia-Japan trade show.
- Marketing an Export Product (254KB)
Students read about an Australian toy maker before designing an advertisement to help sell his toys overseas.
- International Trade Game – The Circle Makers (201KB)
In teams, students represent four countries competing to sell paper circles to the world market. Each country has a different set of resources for making circles.
