Australian export case study

Advanced video surveillance equipment from Sydney company, DigiSensory Technologies, is now being trialled in the United States by New Jersey’s East Orange police department.

digi_main1.jpgDigiSensory is a leading developer of programmable embedded image processor technology which is used in a variety of devices, including digital video security cameras and automotive collision avoidance applications.

DigiSensory combines ‘smart’ camera technology – sophisticated image, video processing and analysis – with high resolution digital video recording, into a single security system.

Managing Director Tarik Hammadou said that DigiSensory’s systems and ‘next generation’ surveillance cameras make security administration easier to manage, allowing for selectable, event-driven surveillance, remote management and monitoring, the integration of different communications protocols, and immediate notifications and alerts.

digi_main2.jpg“With our products you can use the video process to easily turn raw data into intelligence,” Dr Hammadou said.

Largest security trade show

In September 2007, DigiSensory Technologies was part of an Australian Security Trade Mission to the United States which showed in Washington DC and Las Vegas at ASIS International*, the largest security trade show in the world.

The Australian Trade Mission was organized by Austrade’s United States ‘Selling to Government’ team, in association with the New South Wales Department of State and Regional Development.

ASIS attracts security executives from United States government agencies, Fortune 500 companies and large organizations around the globe.

It was here that the DigiSensory team made contact with the New Jersey police department, which led to the trial now underway in East Orange.

Accelerated success

“Both the ASIS show and the meetings organized for us by Austrade in Washington have accelerated our success in the US market by at least two years,” said Dr Hammadou.

“Austrade was superb in helping us secure this contract.

“Dan Sullivan’s ‘Selling to Government’ team in Washington matched us with our clients, assisted us in every way possible – and have continued to help us.

“I am very impressed,” said Dr Hammadou, who has just returned from the United States where he gave a lecture on surveillance technology to a large number of US law enforcement officers.

AUSFTA opened the way
The Australia-United States Free Trade Agreement (AUSFTA), which came into effect in January 2005, has opened the way for Australian companies to be able to provide services to US government departments.

* ASIS International was originally named the American Society for Industrial Security.
