Ross Bray

Having extensive experience working with exporters in Australia and overseas, Ross was appointed as Trade Commissioner and Counsellor (Commercial) to Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Egypt and Oman in January 2018, and is responsible for working with Australian exporters, investors and education institutions in the region with an emphasis on extractive industries, infrastructure, education, investment and Agrifood.

Prior to this appointment, Ross was Austrade’s Senior Trade Commissioner to Myanmar from 2015-2018. In 2013-2014, he was Austrade’s Australia based Trade Manager – Food & Consumer and Manager – Industry Policy Coordination in Canberra in 2012-2013 coordinating input to whole-of-government trade and investment policy development processes and industry specific programs.

Internationally, Ross has also been Australia’s Senior Trade Commissioner in Manila covering the Philippines and Micronesia from 2007-2011 and the Industry Team Leader for Austrade’s Food & Beverage and Agribusiness Teams across ASEAN markets. From 2004-2007, Ross was based in Suva as Trade Commissioner for Fiji and the Pacific Islands, assisting with Australian business development throughout the South Pacific.

Commencing his career in the electricity industry in Victoria, Australia, Ross has experience in both the private and public sector. Prior to joining Austrade, his international business experience has predominantly been in Vietnam and China covering engineering, aviation and telecommunications projects.

Ross speaks Vietnamese, has a Master of International Business and a Graduate Certificate of Business (Human Resource Management) from Swinburne University of Technology. Ross is married with two daughters.
