Austrade hosts education agent training sessions in Southern Brazil
16 Jun 2014
Australia continues to be an important study destination for Brazilians, with more than 17 000 enrolments at Australian education institutions each year. Austrade’s education team in Brazil and the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) have been delivering education agent training sessions across Brazil to ensure agents are well-equipped to continue the promotion of study in Australia.
Education agents in Brazil play an important role in placing students in Australian institutions. However, most of them represent Australian ELICOS and VET institutions and only a few agents offer higher education and high school programs in Australia. There is a need for greater awareness among many agents about how to represent such institutions, and a greater understanding about their programs and what they might offer to Brazilian students.
The purpose of the agent training sessions was to encourage more agents to understand and promote the advantages of Australian education in all sectors. The sessions covered the latest changes on visas, presented by a representative from DIBP, the use of the Future Unlimited brand, and trends and opportunities in each sector. The agents were also encouraged to become qualified education agents by doing the online Education Agent Training Course offered by Pier Online.
The education agent training sessions took place in the cities of Curitiba and Florianopolis, on 29 May and 3 June, respectively.
