If you want professional assistance to submit your application, you may consider engaging an EMDG consultant.
Consultants play an important role in supporting Australia’s current and future exporters by promoting awareness of the Export Market Development Grants (EMDG) scheme, lodging applications on behalf of businesses and supporting the assessment process.
All consultants can lodge EMDG applications on behalf of applicants during the standard lodgement period from 1 July to 30 November each year.
Provisions prevent the payment of EMDG grants to applicants engaging an EMDG consultant who is assessed to be a not fit and proper person.
The Quality Incentive Program (QIP)
During the extended lodgement period, from the beginning of December to the end of February, your application MUST be lodged through a Quality Incentive Program (QIP) consultant.
Consultants that lodge five or more claims in a grant year will be invited by Austrade to participate in the voluntary consultant Quality Incentive Program. If a consultant meets the approval criteria, they will be able to lodge EMDG applications during the extended lodgement period.
Consultants approved under the Export Market Development Grants (Extended Lodgement and Consultant Quality Incentive) Determination 2012 are listed below. These lists are updated in September each year.
Becoming a consultant
Anyone who believes that they have the appropriate skills, knowledge, experience and competence can apply to become an EMDG consultant by completing the form in Information for EMDG consultants (PDF).
To submit an EMDG application on behalf of a client, consultants need:
- an EMDG Consultant Code (issued by Austrade following application)
- an AUSkey
New consultants must apply before 27 November in order to be registered in time to lodge claims by the 30 November due date.
Resources for consultants
Austrade has created a range of resources for consultants, including a series of templates that consultants can choose to use as an optional method of bulk data entry, and Austrade’s presentation from the most recent Continuing Professional Development days.
Use of these templates is optional.
