According to Mr David Robertson, General Manager of Sea World Whale Watch, the Export Market Development Grants (EMDG) scheme has been of great benefit to his business. The company’s main focus was previously on the domestic market, but the EMDG grant has provided an important boost to expanding its business internationally.
Mr Robertson advised Austrade that “The grant has given us confidence to spend money in this area, particularly in reimbursing advertising costs in tourism brochures, airline magazines and increasing website exposure to overseas markets.
“As a result we have been able to embark on a solid strategy in the growth of our international business without cutting costs.””
He added, “Initially we targeted the South East Asian market but our promotional efforts have recently expanded to include the UK, North America and the UAE. Our return on investment has been rewarded many times over, thanks to EMDG.
