Do I need a permit to export goods out of Australia?
Unless exempt, goods may require a permit to be exported. If so, the details must be included in the Export Declaration. The Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) can provide you with more information about export permits. The Export Control publication, produced by DIBP, contains detailed information about prohibitions, restrictions and documentation required for exporting products as well as information about where the relevant permit can be obtained.
Some agricultural products have legal and administrative requirements for export. There may be licensing requirements for exporters, premises registration, export permits and health certificates to accompany export consignments or export inspection procedures prior to load-out. The Department of Agriculture and Water Resources can provide more information about these requirements, visit: www.agriculture.gov.au or call: 1800 900 090
Your freight forwarder may be able to assist you with documentation, approval and permits required in the overseas market.
