ASEAN Cyber Security Mission 2018

About event:

In partnership with AustCyber, Austrade and Australia’s Ambassador for Cyber Affairs invites Australian cyber security firms to join a targeted mission to the ASEAN region. This mission will incorporate a visit to the Singapore Cloud and Cyber Security Expo and The Indonesia Cyber Security Summit in Bali. It will also feature a workshop with BSSN (National Cyber and Encryption Agency in Indonesia), and an exclusive program of networking events, pitch opportunities, briefings and introductions to customers and partners in the ASEAN region.

In 2016, the Singapore Government launched a National Cybersecurity Strategy which set out Singapore’s vision, goals and priorities for cyber security, focusing on coordinated action and facilitating international partnerships to ensure resilience and trust in cyberspace. Four pillars underpin the Strategy: Building a resilient infrastructure, creating a safer cyberspace, developing a vibrant cyber security ecosystem and strengthening international partnerships. There are strong cyber security opportunities in Singapore, particularly with the financial services, infrastructure, MNCs telecommunications and healthcare sectors.

Indonesia is home to the largest population in the ASEAN region. With more than fifty percent internet penetration it is also one of the world’s most vulnerable countries to cyber attacks. The recently established BSSN is set to become the central authority for coordinating and driving improved cyber security in Indonesia. The developing Indonesian market also gives rise to real opportunity particularly in financial services, telecommunication, and healthcare sectors. A Memorandum of Understanding on Cyber Cooperation was also recently signed by Australia’s Ambassador for Cyber Affairs and the Head of Indonesia’s Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) demonstrating the strength of the cyber partnership between the two nations.
