Australia Business Week in India 2017


The second Australia Business Week in India (ABWI), held from 28 August to 1 September 2017, built upon the success of the inaugural ABWI held in 2015.

Led by the Hon Steven Ciobo MP, Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment, a delegation of 157 senior Australian business representatives participated in five targeted sectoral programs:

  • Higher education
  • Smart infrastructure
  • Innovation - life sciences and digital health
  • Agribusiness – food value chains
  • Mining equipment technology and services (METS).

The business mission comprised 75 events over five days in six Indian locations: New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Bhopal. Sectoral programs featured seminars, roundtables, site visits, showcases and opportunities for networking with Indian businesses, industry and government.

Five other Australian ministers participated in ABWI, including the Hon Keith Pitt MP, Assistant Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment; the Hon Luke Hartsuyker, Assistant Minister to the Deputy Prime Minister; the Hon Karen Andrews MP, Assistant Minister for Vocational Education and Skills; the Hon Roger Cook MLA, Western Australian Deputy Premier and Minister for Health; the Hon Cameron Dick, Queensland Minister for Health; and Barry O’Farrell, NSW Special Envoy.
