Australia has been very leading in this area in large metals and advance composite materials. this has been for many years, may be 25 years or so. In common material we have been concentrating on carbon fiber, rain frost, polymer matrix. We have also done metal matrix composites, rain frost supply ceramic particles or ceramic wires and we have been working at the mechanical properties and their reliance on the loading conditions for instance weather conditions and mechanical loading or external impact and sound force on the durability of the composite material and on the impact capacity of composite material. So we have been doing this kind of research for so many years and then so we have got significant achievement compared with the counterpart in all over the world in this area we are very leading in this area.

Those light metals, composite material actually purpose of that is to reduce the weight and that’s why we use the polymer material as the matrix but when you are using the polymer material then its getting weaker and then you need to use the high face of the material like carbon fiber or carbon glass to re-enforce it so using the simple term like concrete structure you have got cement which is very brittle but you need to use the metal wire to re-enforce it so the principle is actually the same but now you are using different material because carbon fiber is so light and then they can reduce a lot of weight for those vehicles.

I can see that from the last few days so we can as an Australian industry in this area and Australian research University, we can offer lot because what Indian car industry and aerospace industry do, they have used some quite light materials like composites but basically they are actually the contractor from the overseas like Boeing or Airbus, those companies. They have actually given the processing condition for example to on doing this condition you process the material and so from design and optimisation point of view, they haven’t done very much in that aspect and all our research because we have been doing so much on that, we have been leading in this area so we can definitely help them to reorganised their design and then to help them to improve their design ability and manufacturing ability in that way.

There are several ways. One is that they can, lot of know, what’s the difficulty they have encounter in their production line and then what they want to improve in that way so that our Australian partners and researchers can focus on those problems and then help them to solve those problems and the other way around is that they can develop collaborative research project with us so Australian government is very generous in a way that we are like ARC, Australian Research Council linked projects, we allow to have overseas industry to participate in our program and then through that way we can have a long term research projects with them to solve from the very fundamental to their production problems.
