Introducing Austrade’s international education team in South Asia

25 Jan 2019

This article introduces the Austrade education team in South Asia, which has ten points of presence across the region in India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Pakistan, while Nepal, Bhutan and the Maldives are monitored remotely.

The South Asia education team focuses on maximising impact in the region by engaging with different markets. This engagement delivers an overall service offering for Australian education providers, which includes:

  • providing strategic advice, engagementstratgies, and client services to Australian institutions looking to promote onshore student recruitment
  • marketing Australian education under AIE2025 as a quality and unique learning provider, while tailoring specific South Asia messages to tackle prestige, rankings recognition and student support services
  • identifying opportunities through transnational delivery and education capabilities and services, including research and development with institutions and corporates
  • informing Australian education providers on labour market skill requirements and market entry strategies for vocational education and training, targeting transnational labour demands

The South Asia education team has strong relationships with top tier institutions, international schools, government, corporates and multilateral agencies. The team proactively tracks macro trends to identify leads and develop commercial opportunities to support Australian education engagement in South Asia.

While student recruitment remains a key focus area for Australian education providers, our team is focussed on building a MIP opportunity pipeline for sustainable growth through transnational delivery and in-market delivery of education capability and services across the value chain. This approach includes institutional partnerships, research and development, edtech and government sponsored research programs.

The team looks forward to continuing to assist Australian education organisations in South Asia and to working with you to explore the evolving opportunities in this high growth region.
