Message from Melissa Banks — Head of International Education

21 Dec 2021

Despite the immense challenges of 2021, I am hopeful that the lifting of travel restrictions will now see the return of international students to Australian campuses and communities in early 2022.

As we prepare to look ahead to a new year, we are using this special MIP Newsletter edition to reflect on our activities and provide you with our most recent, end-of-year results. Activity highlights have included our global Shine with Australia education campaign (October–December 2021) which resulted in over 182m video views globally, 6.1m clicks to the Study Australia website, 26,526 course searches and 1,115 enrolment enquiries submitted directly to Australian education providers.

This year, Austrade also launched a range of Study Australia website resources including the Employability Hub, Masterclass Library and a new Partner Hub — launched in December 2021 at the inaugural Study Australia Global Agent Week. In addition, the new ‘Latest travel and visa advice’ section at the Study Australia website houses all federal, state and territory government updates, covering pre-departure requirements, vaccines, FAQs and more.

Even in the midst of crisis, our sector has shown a wonderful generosity of spirit, to students and colleagues alike. Heartfelt thanks to our Australian Government colleagues, Study Australia Partnership state and territory members, peak bodies, clients and providers for an ongoing commitment to productive cooperation and collaboration. We look forward to working together with you again in 2022 in support of our students, and our sector’s recovery and renewal.

As always, we welcome your feedback and ideas. Contact us anytime at studyinaustralia@austrade.gov.au

Wishing you health and happiness in 2022, and a restful break during the festive season.
