Australia Awards are prestigious, transformational scholarships offered to emerging leaders from across the Indo-Pacific region.

Australia Awards are a feature within many of Australia’s bilateral aid programs, targeting the development of human resource capacity for partner countries within mutually agreed sectors and development priorities. Australia Awards support and showcase Australia’s world-class education sector in a globally competitive marketplace.

Australia Awards scholarships have been a key feature of Australia’s international engagement since the Colombo Plan of the 1950s. More than 100,000 men and women have received an Australian Government scholarship (both long and short-term) to study in Australia since then. In 2022 intake Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) offered 2,075 Australia Awards scholarships and short courses to 27 developing countries and just over 300 of them have mobilised in the first semester.

The Australia Awards Dashboard and pivot tables can be accessed on the Austrade website.
