YTD February 2021 international student data released
04 May 2021
The Department of Education, Skills and Employment has released year to date (YTD) February 2021 international student data. Compared to YTD February 2020, key results include:
- Total enrolments decreased by 16.8 per cent, while commencements decreased by 37.9 per cent.
- All sectors experienced declines in commencements and VET was the only sector that experienced growth in enrolments (up 0.3 per cent).
- The top 25 markets by enrolments all experienced decreases.
- China, India and Nepal accounted for half (54.6 per cent) of all enrolments.
The YTD February 2021 data should be interpreted with caution. Under the current unprecedented conditions an enrolment does not confirm if a student was in Australia at the time of reporting. Please treat any comparative analysis with caution as some providers do not commence until March and this can vary by year.
MIP subscribers can view the latest data on the Student data dashboard, and a public monthly summary is also available.
