YTD November 2022 international student data available

The Department of Education has released year-to-date (YTD) November 2022 international student data.

There were 613, 327 international students on student visas for January to November 2022. This was 7% more than January to November 2021.

The top 5 countries account for 58% of international students. These countries were:

  • China (25%)
  • India (16%)
  • Nepal (9%)
  • Colombia (4%)
  • Vietnam (4%).

There were 737,539 enrolments between Jan and November 2022, comprising:

  • 49% higher education (360,358)
  • 37% VET (270,878)
  • 10% ELICOS (74,487)
  • 3% non-award (19,989)
  • 2% schools (11,827).

Compared to the January to the November 2021 period, enrolments were up for ELICOS (80%) and non-award (47%). Enrolments were down for higher education (-1%), VET (-3%), and schools (-9%).

NOTE: Under current conditions, enrolment does not confirm if a student was in Australia at the time of reporting.
