Fair Work Ombudsman legislation updates and resources for young workers and internationals students

  • The FWO provides specific advice for international students to help them understand their rights and entitlements when starting a new job.
  • The Australian Government has passed the Fair Work Legislation Amendment (Secure Jobs, Better Pay) Act 2022.
  • Employees of non-small business employers (15-or-more employees) can now access 10 days of paid family and domestic violence leave in a 12-month period.

Secure Jobs, Better Pay

The Australian Government has passed the Fair Work Legislation Amendment (Secure Jobs, Better Pay) Act 2022. This legislation amends the Fair Work Act 2009 to change a number of existing rules and introduces a range of new workplace laws. The new laws start on different dates. Paid Family and Domestic Violence Leave

From 1 February 2023, employees of non-small business employers (15-or-more employees) can access 10 days of paid family and domestic violence leave in a 12-month period. Employees of small businesses can access this paid leave from 1 August 2023.
