Tariffs and regulations

Tariffs and duty rates are constantly revised and are subject to change without notice. Austrade strongly recommends you reconfirm these prior to selling to Ethiopia.

For further information, visit the Ethiopia Revenues and Customs Authority website.

The minimum tariff rate on imports is zero while the maximum is 35 per cent. There is a weighted average tariff of 9.7 per cent.

Over the past five years, the number of tariff bands has been reduced from over 30 to five as part of government trade reforms.

There are no quantitative import restrictions nor import quotas. However, strict foreign exchange control regimes administered by the National Bank of Ethiopia may deter imports.
