2015-16 Successful Free Trade Agreement Training Provider (FTA-TP) Grants

We are pleased to announce the successful recipients of the FTA-TP grants for 2015-16. Congratulations to all organisations that have been awarded funding.

The current FTA-TP grants round attracted interest from 41 organisations. From this strong field, 14 organisations have been awarded a grant. Thank you to all grant applicants for your time and effort in the preparation and submission of proposals.

Australian International Marine Export Group Peak Industry Body VIC Melbourne 1 The Demystifying FTA's "What’s in it for me" training program will tailor technical FTA advice specifically for the marine industry nation-wide. Training will include seminars and networking to highlight opportunities and increase awareness and utilisation. $61,000
Centre for Customs and Excise Studies RTO ACT 1 The North Asia FTA Agribusiness Workshops focused on Food and Fibre will be delivered online, through workshops and mentoring activities across NSW regional centres and the ACT. The workshops will increase technical awareness and upskill producers to utilise FTAs more effectively while exposing them to opportunities arising from the implementation of the target FTAs. The training will also encompass effective management of supply chains. $70,000
Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Western Australia Chamber of Commerce and Industry WA Perth 2 Through the WA North Asia FTA Access Program, which includes seminars and workshops, CCIWA will promote awareness and utilisation of the North Asian FTA's to exporters in both metropolitan and regional WA using sustainable education tools for ongoing service delivery and advice. $130,000
HunterNet Co-operative Limited Industry Association NSW Newcastle 2 The HunterNet FTA-TP Project will provide SMEs in the Hunter and Central Coast region with an online FTA training portal housing sector specific training packages while also delivering seminars and workshops that increase technical awareness and promote utilisation of Australia’s North Asia FTAs. $123,000
Law Council of Australia Peak Industry Body ACT 1 The Legal Exports to Asia Program (LEAP) will target SME law firms to increase FTA understanding and technical awareness to enable these firms to tap into North Asian FTA opportunities. LEAP will provide SME law firms with first-hand information on practical transnational business know-how and cultural knowledge required for them and their SME clients to succeed in China, Japan and Korea and navigate behind the border barriers in these complex markets. $60,000
RMIT University Education Institution VIC Melbourne 2 RMIT’s Free Trade Agreement Training Provider Grant project will focus on delivering workshops that increase awareness and utilisation of FTAs in North Asia for target sectors in professional services including legal and accounting, ICT and Creative Services/Fintech, Food Manufacturing, Agri-Tech/Water and Mining and Energy Services (outlined in Australia’s Jobs Future report). Training will increase technical knowledge to assist SMEs to recognise and access opportunities. $114,000
South Australian Employers Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. Chamber of Commerce and Industry SA Unley 2 The Understand and Utilise FTAs - Maximising your export opportunities and benefits in China, Japan and Korea program will deliver information, guides and insights to the wider Australian business community significantly increasing FTA fluency through product/industry specific training sessions and coaching sessions. $120,000
South West Institute of TAFE Education Institution VIC Warrnambool 1 The Getting Down to Business - You and the Free Trade Agreements project will address the diversity of the local regional economic landscape, and assist companies to navigate supply chains and understand pathways to FTA destination countries with core commercial/technical information and training provided to SMEs through public lectures, internet, and a series of workshops. $75,000
The Australian Industry Group Industry Association VIC Melbourne 2 The Ai Group's FTA Outreach Program will assist SMEs to understand market access and movement of goods using FTAs with training aimed at increasing access to benefits and understanding key technical aspects of utilising FTAs in the target markets. Training will be delivered through video conferencing, one-on-one contact, seminars and webinars. The project will also identify a bank of FTA relevant case studies that support SME export aspirations. $133,000
Toowoomba and Surat Basin Enterprise Business Association QLD Toowoomba 1 The Unlocking Northern Asia - FTA's Enabling the Darling Downs Export Opportunity will deliver awareness forums, webinars and workshops to sector specific SMEs in the Darling Downs region to increase understanding, technical expertise and utilisation of FTAs in the target markets. Development of an online platform for SMEs will also provide ongoing benefits and create a virtual learning management system with real-time interactive consultancy and learning. $104,000

 1 The UniSA Free Trade Agreement Training Program, through the Australian Centre for Asian Business (ACAB), will raise awareness of the benefits of ChAFTA among South Australian SMEs and provide direct training to increase access and utilisation.  A series of online webinars and industry sector training sessions targeting wine, agri-business, food processing, professional services, aged care and health will be delivered.  The program will strengthen SME capability and open up mentoring opportunities.  $44,000
Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chamber of Commerce and Industry VIC Melbourne 2 The Victorian Chamber FTA Export Pathway Program will deliver training for SMEs in metropolitan and regional Victoria that builds greater awareness of FTA benefits and increases knowledge on how to utilise the agreements effectively. SMEs will have access to an online FTA Knowledge Centre, helpline, sector specific workshops, one-on-one coaching and mentoring and an alumni network. $120,000
