Australian Wine and Grape Authority (Wine Australia) is the Australian Government authority responsible for the promotion and regulation of Australian wine and brandy, under the provisions of the Australian Wine and Brandy Corporation Act, 1980.

Austrade is the Australian Government’s Export, Education and Foreign Investment promotion agency. Our charter excludes facilitation of foreign imports into Australia.

Unless exempt, goods may require a permit to be exported. If so, the details must be included in the Export Declaration.

GST (Goods and Services Tax) is a broad-based tax of 10% on most goods, services and other items sold or consumed in Australia and also on most imports of goods.

You will need the Harmonised Tariff Code (HTC) to search for import tariffs on the World Trade Organisation website. If you don’t have the HTC, this can be obtained by contacting Department of Immigration and Border protection on 1800 053 016.

Scams usually follow a pattern – contact is made via the internet, an order for a large amount of product is quickly agreed to, and the buyer wishes to pay via credit card or have the exporter visit them in-country.
