Mukund is based in New Delhi and leads the Austrade team across South Asia covering India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan and the Maldives. Spread across 8 offices in the region, the team is focused on delivering against Australia’s ambitious trade and investment agenda with the region.
Previously, Mukund was based in Jakarta and led the team in Southeast Asia, which was focussed on the implementation of Australia’s Southeast Asia Economic Strategy. Working closely with the Australia’s Special Envoy Nicholas Moore AO, Mukund co-led several major initiatives (including the Southeast Asia Business Exchange and the Investment Deal Teams) which focussed on growing two-way trade and investment with the region.
Mukund was the founding CEO of Asialink Business, Australia’s National Centre for Asia Capability, which was established with a mandate from the Australian Government. This involved developing an Asia-capable workforce in Australia through the delivery of capability development programs, market insights and advisory services to Australian organisations seeking to navigate Asian markets.
Mukund built his experience at KPMG advising on M&A transactions, joint ventures and strategic alliances between Australia and Asia.
Mukund is a qualified Chartered Accountant and received his MBA from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology as a Sloan Fellow in Innovation and Global Leadership.
