The Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) in partnership with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the Centre for Australia India Relations, and Australian States & Territories, invites you to join the group of Australian exporters in the “Team Australia Pavilion” at the GIM 2024.
Australia is a country partner for the Tamil Nadu Global Investor Meet (GIM) 2024.
The event provides a unique opportunity for Australian businesses to understand the opportunities in India’s second largest state economy, which is moving towards US$1 trillion by 2030 (approximately US$350 billion at present). The state GDP grew over 8% in the last few years, and faster than the Indian national average. Tamil Nadu has its unique strengths in advanced manufacturing, a skilled workforce, and high women’s participation.
Australia’s High Commissioner to India Mr Philip Green made his first visit to Tamil Nadu and Chennai in October 2023 where he announced Australia would be a country partner for the GIM. He said, ‘with its high level of human capital and industrial character, Tamil Nadu is a natural place to scale up Australian innovation and to engage constructively with Indian businesses’. The High Commissioner will be attending the GIM and looks forward to meeting participating Australian businesses.
Australian businesses participating at the event will get a chance to network with senior officials in the Australian Government, the Tamil Nadu State Government, leading industrialists and potential customers and commercial partners. The event will also be a platform to provide inputs into Tamil Nadu’s supply chains in the form of resources as well as skills, and showcase Australia’s attractiveness as a destination to live, work, study, and visit.
GIM 2024 will host a Team Australia Pavilion offering open exhibition space to co-exhibit with other Australian businesses and the parallel conference session with 22 different themes. Delegates interested in speaking slots on their sectoral themes can let Austrade know in advance for further consideration.
For more information on the GIM please refer to the official GIM website.
Benefits of participating at the GIM event:
A Team Australia delegation will also be participating at the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit in Gandhinagar, Gujarat from 10-12 January 2024.
Vibrant Gujarat is India’s largest trade show and provides Australian businesses with a unique opportunity to explore trade and investment opportunities in west and north India. Officiated by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Summit is attended by many of India’s largest companies and provides a platform to access senior Indian leaders and decision makers from across business and politics.
This year’s Summit focuses on the themes of Industry 4.0, Technology and Innovation, and Transitioning Towards Sustainability. We encourage Australian businesses active in the education and skills, critical minerals, renewables and net zero linked technologies, advanced manufacturing, and digital health and innovation sectors to consider joining the Team Australia delegation.
As with the Tamil Nadu Global Investor Meet, Australia will be an official partner country for Vibrant Gujarat, meaning there will be an Australia Pavilion and a dedicated Australian country session as well as sectoral sessions. Businesses interested in exhibiting at the Australia Pavilion or in speaking slots on their sectoral themes can use the below email address to advise in advance for further consideration.
There is no entry or registration fee for the event, but participants will be expected to meet their own travel and accommodation costs.
