David Grabau has joined the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) to help attract foreign investment into the Australian resources and energy sector.

With his background advising major resources and energy companies across strategy, risk, and project management, David is one of a team of senior investment specialists appointed to increase foreign investment in priority sectors.

Mr Grabau is based in Melbourne and began his role last month. He has strong experience with top-20 Australian Securities Exchange–listed corporations and was previously head of government relations at IAG and CGU Insurance. He also spent several years working with BHP Billiton across its minerals and petroleum businesses.

Along with his commercial expertise, David has over a decade of experience working in government at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the Office of National Assessments.

Austrade’s senior investment specialists focus on industries identified with all states and territories as benefiting from greater levels of foreign investment, including major infrastructure; food and agribusiness; resources and energy; tourism infrastructure; and advanced manufacturing, services and technology.

Mr Grabau and his investment specialist peers promote Australia as an investment destination of first choice, working with state and territory governments to ensure projects get off the ground, and provide advocacy for foreign investors.
