Indian business software Ramco Systems will set up an Asia-Pacific Centre of Excellence for Workforce Innovation in Melbourne, where its Australian headquarters is located.

Ramco Systems develops cloud and mobile-based software across industries including aviation, enterprise resource planning (ERP), human capital management (HCM), human resources (HR), and payroll. Ramco is also developing cognitive and robotic ERP solutions.

An Invest Victoria media release states the Centre of Excellence for Workforce Innovation will draw on talent from across Australia to design and develop cloud-based solutions to address HR challenges. From programmers to consulting strategists and social scientists, the centre will employ innovators who will prototype Ramco’s HR software.

Ramco states it will partner with Victorian universities at the first instance, and then with other universities across Australia, to source talent for the centre.

The centre will be a hub for testing technologies such as chatbots, facial recognition-based time and attendance tools, neurolinguistic programming-based virtual assistants and other tools to automate daily tasks.

‘With millennials entering the workforce and gig economy becoming the norm, traditional HR solutions are no longer able to address the changing demands of HR,’ says P.R. Venketrama Raja, Chairman, Ramco Systems.

The company adds that a key reason Ramco selected Melbourne as its Asia-Pacific headquarters was the quality of graduates from Victorian universities, which has enabled it to hire the people it needs to enhance the company's growth.

Founded in Chennai, India in 1997, Ramco Systems has 24 offices around the world and employs over 1,600 people.
