Thailand’s Minor Hotel Group has announced the development of its second AVANI Hotels and Resorts property in Australia.
Hotel Management reports that the 55-storey building, which is located in Melbourne’s central business district, is due for completion in August 2018.
‘AVANI Hotels and Resorts is well-known throughout Asia and the Middle East,’ says Dan Hastings, Chief Operating Officer, Minor Hotels. ‘After introducing the brand to Australia with the opening of AVANI Broadbeach late last year, we can’t wait to expand our footprint further and do the same in Melbourne.’
International visitor arrivals continued at record levels with 8.1 million visitors arriving during the year ending December 2017, an increase of 6 per cent on 2016, according to Tourism Research Australia.
Deloitte Access Economics forecasts international visitor trips to grow by 6.9 per cent annually and visitor nights by 6.3 per cent annually on average over the next three years.
Founded in Thailand in 1978, Minor International is one of the largest hospitality and leisure companies in the Asia-Pacific region, operating over 159 hotels and resorts, including AVANI Hotels and Resorts. AVANI’s global portfolio includes more than 20 hotels, resorts and residences currently in operation and seven properties due to open this year.
