Panel Discussion Theme: Singapore-Australia Cybersecurity: Collaborations towards a Strong Future Economy

Austrade - in collaboration with Austcyber, SGInnovate and SGTech held the Australia-Singapore Cybersecurity Dialogue on the evening of Mon 15 July. Austrade and AustCyber coordinated a delegation of 15 Australian cyber companies and organisations to Singapore to attend the  RSA Conference 2019 and meet with key stakeholders.

As part of the program, the delegation met with key organisations including Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA) and Singtel, and heard from major corporations including Blackberry, KPMG and ST Engineering. The Dialogue included a panel discussion – covering topics such as: Australia’s capabilities in cybersecurity; government and corporate views on cyber readiness; and the challenges and opportunities across the region.

Australian cyber companies were given the opportunity to pitch to the large crowd comprising of government and industry leaders, and Chief Information & Security Officers from a broad spectrum of sectors e.g. cybersecurity policy makers and regulators, Interpol, financial and e-payments, telecommunication, defence, academia, cyber security software developers, amongst others – showcasing their businesses and making valuable connections.

Working with SGInnovate, a livestream of the event was recorded and is available here http://ow.ly/c7xA50v0GwJ.

Listen to Michelle Price, CEO of AustCyber speaking about combating the most pressing challenges Australia faces nationally, including ransomeware, where thanks to its relative wealth, it has the dubious distinction of having one of the highest, if not the highest, rates of ransomeware attacks globally, as well as the evolution of cyberspace as the newest theatre of war.
