Australia’s unique Bioreactor makes wastewater treatment easy in China

23 Jun 2020

The outbreak of COVID-19 hasn’t impeded Sydney-based wastewater treatment solutions provider BioGill from identifying a strong pipeline of projects across China.

BioGill provides simple on-site solutions that are quick to install, easy to maintain and work extremely well for food and beverage producers such as wineries and craft breweries.

Microorganisms provide the biological engine behind BioGill’s technology creating an oxygen rich environment for the organisms to perform at their best. At the technology’s core is a patented nano-ceramic media known as “gills”, which provides the ideal environment for the growth of a healthy treating biomass.

BioGill bioreactors can supplement under-performing systems or as a complete substitute for the biological stage in a decentralized sewage treatment plant. The technology is ideal for treating sewage from residential and commercial buildings, restaurants, resorts and small communities.

“We are recognised as having strong technology and the ability to provide solutions across a variety of environments and industries. We work with different industrial partners in China and are able to utilise their engineering capability as well as business networks to generate more opportunities,” said Robbiem Huang, General Manager, China.

The firm has won a number of important demonstration projects in Henan and Hubei Provinces in recent months including a 4A mountain resort in Sichuan Province treating around 60 tons of waste per day.

“Our BioGill Tower and BioGill Ultra systems provide simple, robust and highly efficient treatment systems. The modular design also makes it easy for customers to scale-up and add more units as volume increases,” said Mr Huang.

In 2016, BioGill was selected as a Top 100 Environmental Technology under the Chinese Government’s 3iPET program to address air, soil and water pollution.

The 3iPET program was launched by China’s Foreign Economic Cooperation Office (FECO), with the support of the Ministry of Environmental Protection (MEP) to utilise the best environmental technologies from around the world in order to tackle environmental challenges.

The company has also completed projects in the United States, Canada, Philippines, Thailand, Fiji and the Middle East.
