G’Day USA promotes Australian innovation

Australian innovation and technology are key highlights of the Austrade program during G'day USA – Australia Week 2012, beginning today.

Now in its ninth year, G’Day USA is the largest promotional event of its kind in the United States and includes events in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Dallas, San Diego, New York, Houston and Chicago.

Austrade’s program will focus on raising awareness of Australian capability in the fields of digital technology, green building, defence and energy.

Austrade Senior Trade Commissioner in New York, Gerard Seeber, said the program built on the themes of Australia’s new national brand, Australia Unlimited, introduced for the first time at G'Day USA last year.

"Americans know Australia as a land of big spaces. We want them to know it is also a land of big ideas," Mr Seeber said.

"G’day USA is an opportunity to show how Australia’s culture of innovation makes it an ideal place to invest and do business."

G’Day USA - Australia Week 2012 is a collaboration between the Australian Government (Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the Australian Trade Commission and Tourism Australia), Qantas Airways and state governments, with strong support from business, universities and the arts community.

13 January: Defence, Science and Australia’s Industrial Maritime Capability – San Diego

17 January: Digital Downunder – Los Angeles

18 January: Digital Shootout – Los Angeles

19 January: Green Building Solutions Forum – New York

20 January: Energy in an Evolving World: Australia as an investment destination – Houston
