Checklist

  • Review the EMDG Eligibility checklist (PDF) to ensure your business is eligible to apply for EMDG assistance
  • Ensure you have a myGovID
  • Complete the online application form and SUBMIT the application using the SUBMIT button

You must complete and submit your online application, including all required documents, between 1 July and midnight (AEDT) 30 November 2020, or use an approved EMDG Quality Incentive Program (QIP) Consultant who can lodge a claim on your behalf until midnight Australian Eastern Daylight Time (AEDT) 2 March 2021.

Austrade does not, by law, accept incomplete or late applications.

AUSkey is retiring - Time to move to myGovID

For more info visit mygovid.gov.auIf you’re planning to apply for an EMDG grant for the 2019-20 grant year now is the time to set up your myGovID.

On 27 March, Austrade and 26 other government agencies retired the decade old AUSkey and the Manage ABN Connections login credentials.

At the same time, Austrade is retiring the current EMDG online application and you will no longer be able to log into the system to view your application. If you need any information from existing applications, please contact us.

The new EMDG application form will be available from June 2020. It has been successfully tested with myGovID to lodge a small number of live applications in February 2020 and we are continuing to work on adding new features and improvements.

myGovID is the Australian Government’s digital identity – a new way to prove who you are online. The myGovID app is available to download to your smart device, using security features in your device such as fingerprint, face or password to help keep your information secure. This is to protect your identity and help stop other people accessing your information.

Once the app is set up, you need to link your myGovID to your business using the authorisation service called Relationship Authorisation Manager (RAM).

To get started, the principal authority (business owner) needs to do the following steps:

  • Step 1: Set up your myGovID - download the myGovID app from the App Store or Google Play and use your Australian identity documents to enrol.
  • Step 2: Log in to RAM using your myGovID and link your business. Before you link your business, check your details on the Australian Business Register are up to date so RAM can use the correct information.
  • Step 3 (optional): Authorise your employees and others in RAM to act on behalf of your business online. They will receive an email to accept the authorisation request using their myGovID.

Documentation

As you work through the EMDG application form, you may be asked to provide documentation, such as financials, invoices or bank statements. What documents you are asked for will depend on what you are claiming.

The application form will have a description of the documents you need to submit. The descriptions can also be found in the document A Guide to Applying for EMDG (PDF) under the corresponding question number. The guide also specifies information you must provide if:

  • you are promoting goods that are not made in Australia
  • you have already received two grants and have selected the Option B EMDG performance measure.

If you are submitting your own application, you will be required to complete and upload an Applicant declaration (PDF) with your EMDG application form.

If you are a consultant submitting an application on behalf of a client, you will be required to complete and upload a Consultant declaration (PDF) with the EMDG application form. This form includes the Applicant declaration, which must be completed by the client for whom you are submitting..
