Mounir is based in Tehran, where he commenced his posting as Counsellor and
Trade Commissioner for Iran in March 2018. He is also responsible for Qatar
and manages the Middle East Africa resources and energy initiative,
assisting Australian companies doing business in the mining and oil and gas
sectors.
Prior to his appointment to Iran, Mounir was Austrade’s Trade Commissioner
to the United Arab Emirates, promoting Australia’s capabilities in
resources and energy, defence industry and infrastructure in the Middle
East North Africa region. Mounir joined Austrade from the private sector,
where he was the head of international business for an infrastructure
consultancy, international legal experience and previously a client manager
for the Queensland Government in the Middle East. He brings to Austrade a
passion for international trade and proven capabilities in international
risk management, market entry, strategy design and implementation and
private international law in Australia, Europe, the Middle East, North
America and Asia.
Mounir holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons.) from Macquarie University and
Bachelor of Economics and International Business, majoring in international
trade and finance from the University of Queensland. Mounir speaks French,
Arabic, Spanish and proficient in Farsi.
