Round 2 of the Export Market Development Grants (EMDG) program:

  • opened on 6 July 2022
  • closed on 17 August 2022.

There were 2,758 applications submitted. Average annual business turnover of applicants is $1.9m.

Figures below reflect the breakdown of applications at the time Round 2 closed.

Applications by tier breakdown

  • 809 in Tier 1 (29.3%)
  • 852 in Tier 2 (30.9%)
  • 1,055 in Tier 3 (38.3%)
  • 42 in Representative body (1.5%)

Applicants by type

  • 1,728 (62.7%) of total applications were lodged by grant agents and 1,030 (37.3%) were self-lodged by applicants.
  • 815 (41.0%) self-lodged applications were submitted by new applicants to EMDG. 
  • 25 applications were submitted by businesses indicating that they are Indigenous owned or controlled. 
  • Agent or self-lodged applications by businesses indicating that they are Indigenous owned or controlled:
    • 22 of these were new applicants to EMDG
    • 20 were self-lodged.

Agents' applications

191 agents submitted applications, 25 of which were agents new to EMDG. Of the 191 agents:

  • 51 agents submitted one application (26.7%)
  • 92 agents submitted between 2 to 9 applications (48.2%)
  • 26 agents submitted between 10 to 19 applications (13.6%)
  • 16 agents submitted 20 to 49 applications (8.4%)
  • 6 agents submitted 50 or more applications (3.1%).

Grant agreements

Out of the 2,760 submitted applications, 2,542 grant agreements were executed. This represents a 92% success rate. Figures are as at 31 December 2023.
