The United States is the economic powerhouse of the world, with the largest and richest consumer market. The Australia-United States Free Trade Agreement (AUSFTA), which came into effect on 1 January 2005, ensures greater access to the United States market for Australian products.

This Agreement also enhances prospects for Australian services, trade and investment, improves the regulatory and investment environment between the two countries, and promotes increased business mobility.
