Bernice Vanguardia is Australia’s Trade and Investment Commissioner to Manila – a role incepted under the Southeast Asia Economic Strategy to deepen trade with the Philippines. She has lead responsibility for business development professionals across international education, technology, energy and multilateral development bank sectors. She also co-leads international education for Southeast Asia.
Bernice has extensive international experience advancing Australia's trade, investment and economic agenda with prior assignments in Asia, the US and UK. At Austrade she's led a Global Engagement team, achieving commercial success for clients. More recently she served in London to implement Austrade’s diversification priorities.
Previously, Bernice was at the Australian Treasury. Her experience in G20 and foreign investment culminated in working for Treasury cabinet ministers. She commenced her career in private sector marketing roles.
Bernice holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Communications and was a 2021 Asialink Leaders Program scholar. She speaks Tagalog, French and foundational Indonesian.
