Cameron Allan

Cameron is the Trade and Investment Commissioner for Thailand and Laos, based in Bangkok. In this role, he supports Austrade’s efforts to support Australian businesses to expand in the Thai and Lao markets, deepen commercial partnerships, and attract investment opportunities between the region and Australia.

Prior to his current posting, Cameron served with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) in Laos, where he led the economic, trade and infrastructure team and represented Australia’s interests across development and private sector engagement, including as an ex officio member of the AusCham Laos board. He also completed a short-term posting in Phuket as a Consular Officer and held roles at DFAT in Canberra. 

Before entering the public service, Cameron worked in strategic communications and corporate affairs at the Australian National University. He is also co-founder of the ASEAN–Australia Strategic Youth Partnership.

Cameron holds a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of International Security Studies from the Australian National University and speaks Lao and Indonesian.
