Esther Sun

Esther Sun is the Trade and Investment Commissioner for Papua New Guinea (PNG) and the Solomon Islands, based in Port Moresby. She leads Austrade's trade and investment engagement across both markets, helping Australian businesses identify opportunities, build commercial partnerships, and navigate local market conditions. Esther provides strategic insights across key sectors including agribusiness, education and skills, mining and resources, and infrastructure.

With more than 10 years of experience promoting Australian trade and investment, Esther has built strong partnerships between Australian organisations and local businesses, facilitating market entry, business expansion, and in-market connections that support Australia's economic growth and prosperity.

Prior to her posting in PNG, Esther served as Trade and Investment Commissioner in Thailand, where she led Austrade's Southeast Asia Food and Beverage team and supported the delivery of the Australian Government's Southeast Asia Business Exchange (SEABX) program.

Esther was awarded the Australia Day Medallion in 2019 in recognition of her outstanding service to Australian exporters and investors, including her leadership in delivering major business missions, trade initiatives, and high-profile events.
