Esther Sun is the Trade and Investment Commissioner based in Shanghai. She is responsible for helping Australian businesses grow in the Food and Beverage markets of China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan while attracting inward investment opportunities. Furthermore, Esther manages the delivery of the Australia Government’s agenda for the China International Import Expo (CIIE), China’s flagship trade exhibition. 

Esther has over 10 years of extensive experience in promoting Australian businesses and building strong partnerships between local customer companies and Australian clients including facilitating offshore in-market connections that positively contribute to the growth of Australia’s capability in key sectors. 

Prior to her posting, Esther was seconded to the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet to lead the planning and delivery of connecting Australian businesses to potential business partners and market opportunities at the ASEAN-Australia Special Summit. Esther was awarded the Australia Day Medallion in recognition for her work in developing effective business development strategies for Australian SMEs to share their knowledge and insights and engage with regional specialists and business leaders. 

Esther holds a Bachelor of Modern Asian Studies (Hons) from Griffith University.
