James Fairley

James Fairley is a Trade and Investment Commissioner for Austrade based in London, and Counsellor (Commercial) at the Australian High Commission in London.

He supports Austrade’s commercial engagement in the UK by working with UK and European governments, industry partners and investors to:

  • assist Australian companies with international expansion
  • strengthen UK-Australia trade and investment links.

James was previously working as a Global Engagement Manager for Critical & Enabling Technology at Austrade, where he supported technology-enabled businesses on market entry and growth strategy across key offshore markets.

Before joining Austrade, James was a Manager at PwC Australia in Emerging Company Services, advising technology and growth-stage companies on international expansion and investment readiness. He also worked with Investment NSW in trade and investment strategy across Southeast Asia and India.

James is an admitted lawyer with qualifications in law, government, and international relations. He has studied and worked in Vietnam, Singapore and France.

He is a proud DFAT New Colombo Plan (NCP) Alumni and co-chair of the NCP Alumni Consultative Group in Australia.
