Previously, Murray was based in Tokyo as Trade and Investment Commissioner and Counsellor (Commercial) leading on he led on Agribusiness, Food and Consumer strategies in Japan. Having joined Austrade in 2017, he has also worked to promote Australian sustainable mining and METS capabilities across the Indo-Pacific and Middle East. As well as opportunities for foreign direct investment into Australian resource projects, supporting Australian exporters with market diversification and growth of their international trade activity.
Prior to joining Austrade, Murray held senior international business development roles with European and American multinational corporations, working across a diverse range of industries including consumer electronics, security solutions, and luxury goods. He has a comprehensive understanding of business relationships in the Asian context, having lived and worked in Northeast and Southeast Asia for over 25 years.
Fluent in Japanese and proficient in Mandarin Chinese, Murray has a Master of Arts –Hons (International Politics) and Master of Business Administration (International Business, Marketing).
