Nigel Warren

Nigel Warren is the Australian Trade and Investment Commission’s General Manger of the Americas.

Nigel is based in New York City and leads a team to drive economic growth for Australia across the region. He also leads a network of 5 Australian Consulates throughout the region.

Prior to joining Austrade, Nigel was the Victorian Commissioner to the Americas from 2021-2025 and served as the Executive Director of Growth for CSIRO, Australia’s National Science agency from 2016-2021. As a member of the $1.4 billion organisation, he was a member of the senior executive team and led the Business Development, Commercial and Global divisions.

Nigel has also held senior global leadership roles including:

  • From 2009–2015 as Australia’s Consul-General and Senior Trade and Investment Commissioner based in San Francisco, California, leading Trade and Investment, Economic Diplomacy and Consular programs for Australia. He also held the role of Dean of the San Francisco Consular corps.
  • From 2004-2009 as Australia’s Senior Trade Commissioner Latin America, based in Santiago, Chile. He managed Australia’s Trade and Investment teams and offices and Consulates in Mexico, Colombia, Brazil, Peru, Chile and Argentina. 
  • As Australia’s Trade Commissioner and Investment Development Director (Silicon Valley).     

Nigel has private sector experience where from 2000 to 2004 he was the Vice President of Worldwide Sales for Equilibrium Inc, a USA based technology company. He was a member of the Executive Management Team responsible for the company’s sales growth throughout the USA and Europe.

Nigel is a graduate of Griffith University, Brisbane Australia with a degree in International Business (Japanese). He speaks Spanish.
