Stuart Rees

Stuart leads Austrade’s investment and trade work across the United Kingdom and Ireland, based at the Australian High Commission in London.  He has deep experience promoting Australia to investors, helping Australian exporters export globally, and in working with government and business to increase international commercial engagement for the benefit of Australia.

He has considerable international experience, including over eight years in Bangkok, New Delhi and in Mumbai, in senior Trade and Investment Commissioner roles.  He recently led the Southeast Asia Deal Teams initiative for Austrade, a joint initiative with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and Export Finance Australia (EFA) to grow outbound investment from Australia to Southeast Asia.   

He joined Austrade after an earlier career in finance and agribusiness. He is originally from Western Victoria and in his early youth spent time as a Jackaroo in New South Wales and Western Australia.  He is a graduate of Marcus Oldham College – Australia’s leading agricultural tertiary institution.
