The Honourable Stirling Hinchliffe is Australia’s Consul-General in Auckland, Senior Trade and Investment Commissioner to New Zealand and General Manager of Austrade’s New Zealand and Pacific Region, a role that places him at the forefront of strengthening Australia’s commercial relationship with New Zealand and supporting broader engagement across the Pacific.
Stirling brings extensive experience in government, economic development and industry engagement to the position. A former Queensland Cabinet Minister, he held senior portfolios during almost two decades in public life, including Tourism, Sport, Transport, Infrastructure, Planning, Local Government, and specific responsibilities in relation to the Brisbane 2032 Games.
Outside his time in elected office, Stirling’s career has seen him engaged in the public, private and community sectors, as an employee, volunteer, strategic adviser, board member and running his own business.
